I am Nat Wilms, a creative soul, dreamer and maker born and raised in Halle/Saale, back when it was still part of East Germany.
My journey took an exciting turn in 2000 when I packed my bags and headed to Italy to pursue my passion for art, studying Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. After some incredible years of exploration, I completed my thesis with a philosophical background, ‘Circular and linear time in masks and icons,’ in Visual and Cultural Anthropology in 2006 – a topic that continues to shape the very core of my ongoing artistical research and remains my heart theme.

As a visual artist, I thrive on pushing boundaries and blending different mediums. My repertoire includes light objects, photography, installations and video-photographical documentaries, all stemming from a thoughtful social-anthropological approach that links my existence with the wider world. I constantly question the process of fragmentation, materializing them in an ongoing experimental and non-linear narration. My video art is poetically dense yet documentarial, crafting dreamy atmospheres with pictorial elements through the abstraction of realistic shooting material. I like to see my work as a journey towards discovering different dimensions of being, metaphorically exploring themes of existence and absence. My narrative captures the imagination through unexpected associations and memories, transporting the spectator to a timeless realm.
My intuition and inspirations still come from traveling this wonderful world if it is physically or metaphorically, it is always a multi-dimensional journey.
