ROOM #3

red gold, objects are not real, windows to other dimensions, portals, need for emptiness, opposites, up and down

white words & heirs of wind

It is a very fine thread that links objects to memory, nontheless it can be made visible. Through bold borders and heavy walls. As if only they were strong enough to reveal intangible ephemeral energies. The Italian landscape is full of abandoned historical houses. I wanted to document the time which is left to these beautiful colored walls or the leaves that fill a room without a roof. And I wanted to document how easily people destroy their own heritage. Perhaps it is true that the more you move the less you remember. In the thirties, in Russia, the forced “relocations” of government “dissidents” were policy. In an efficient yet subtle manner the relocation made them think of anything but the reason they had been relocated. Somehow this strategy continues. Here in Italy. Even Today. If not why are houses built quickly with cheap, insubstantial material intended to last only a few years. Is it to prevent us from nurturing and embroidering certain thoughts? Faced with this visual abandonment and sad violence, I wanted to react and I chose to do so through poetry. Even to imagine a metaphysical medicine or attempt to find magic in the heart of these stones that shout and are silent at the same time provides relief.

dream journeys

The light-box of the “dream journeys” by Nat Wilms: extraordinary Wunderkammer, a unique collection of objects and concepts, where the concrete of strong materials dialogues with the elusiveness of little illuminated boxes that often withdraw in a game of absolutely unprepared refers between a thing and reality, which we live physically in a determinate moment, and a thing that lives only in our imagination or better, that our imagination is able to interpret, also regarding the same object-subject. In a given time which is, at the same time, timeless. (Simona Pinelli)

A lot of dreams in one object only. The dream of flying and of touching the stars like in Méliès’ movie “Vers les étoiles” (1906); and the dream that the own past floats away for getting lightly and leaving it behind.

Never stable, always with the bag in the hand, which gets always heavier. However, at the bottom there is nothing inside the suitcase, there are only memories that I carry on. So maybe I do not need more than the bag, empty, but with holes in between, which comfort me during my departures and lighten the weight of the journey for sending me into a dream, where I can fly inside of a vision on white paper, which is not written yet.
